On the evening of October 31, 2024, Ausphin International Institute transformed into a lively Halloween scene as students from Batches 10, 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16 gathered for “Spooktacular October,” a night designed to blend festive fun with a charitable mission. Held at the AII campus, this event brought culinary students together in an atmosphere of excitement, creativity, and community as they celebrated the spooky season in full costume.
The night began with an enthusiastic runway where each student introduced themselves and presented their costumes, from iconic horror characters to inventive, one-of-a-kind creations. The energy was electric as each participant took turns sharing the inspiration behind their look, sparking applause, laughter, and a festive Halloween spirit. Costumes ranged from ghoulish ghosts and witches to intricate and imaginative characters, showing the students’ flair for creativity both inside and outside the kitchen.
Adding to the evening’s delight, Chef Lee and Chef Acee, respected culinary trainers, led a team of student volunteers in crafting an array of crowd-pleasing snacks, including a variety of pizzas and nachos topped with rich and flavorful ingredients.
The culinary team also prepared a range of beverages, and some students stepped into roles as bartenders for the night, skillfully mixing drinks to add to the festive atmosphere. Both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options were served to ensure everyone could partake in the celebration. It was a perfect showcase of teamwork and culinary skills, creating delicious food and drinks that everyone enjoyed.
Throughout the night, the students engaged in a lineup of interactive activities designed to foster connections and friendly competition. Games like beer pong and “Two Truths and a Lie” filled the room with laughter and playful banter, while a karaoke setup allowed the musically inclined to show off their vocal talents, adding a touch of nostalgia and fun to the gathering. These activities encouraged the students to mingle, share laughs, and bond in a relaxed, enjoyable setting, strengthening their sense of community.
One of the night’s highlights was the participation of Mr. Tolga Yilmaz, AII’s Director of Immigration and Compliance, who enthusiastically joined the celebration, interacting with the students and sharing in the festivities.
Mr. Yilmaz had the special role of selecting and announcing the “Spooky King and Queen” of the night, recognizing the outstanding costumes of Francis and Lizalee from Batch 16. Their outfits, embodying both creativity and Halloween spirit, stood out as a testament to the students’ playful and imaginative side.
The event’s concluding moments included a toast to the shared memories, new friendships, and a reminder of the evening’s purpose. A portion of the proceeds from Spooktacular October would be donated to a selected local charity, emphasizing AII’s commitment to giving back to the community. This charitable aspect added a meaningful layer to the celebration, reinforcing the importance of compassion and service alongside culinary excellence.
